Tidal Charts
Problem:
The Canadian Coast Guard wanted a system to help river pilots decide on the best time to move a ship up or down the shipping channel in the South Arm of the Fraser River.
Solution:
Avadepth determines the critical depth and location at two hour intervals along the channel. The computation accounts for tidal effects, water volume flow in river, and standard water depth. A 24 hour graph of the critical depth quickly conveys the information to pilots.
