POPInfo™
POPInfo is a map database of 'Point Of Presence' (POP) locations for long distance telephone carriers across the United States. These points illustrate the entry and exit locations for telephone calls provided by major long distance carriers. It is used in conjunction with other telecommunication databases (e.g., MapInfo's LATAInfo, CarrierInfo and others), to illustrate the long distance telecommunications landscape.
An Interexchange Carrier (IXC) is a telephone company that provides long distance service between LATAs. The POPInfo database includes IXCInfo, so you can map the communications channel, or path, between two or more telephone exchanges to determine rates for local and long distance calls that cross more than one telecom provider service area.
